Meeting Zach (or Z-bag and the Naan!)

Zach was the first baby born in our group of Wisconsin friends.  We all assume that he will be the ringleader of the gang of little kids.  Look at how easily Zach convinces Colin to join this little gang (of 2)!

More pictures of Colin and Zach are here.

Happy Hannukkah!

Thanksgiving

Colin had his first overnight trip last week for Thanksgiving. We went to DC to Chiku and Sandesh's house and Colin did a great job. Luckily Sayal let us borrow all of her baby things (crib, pack n play, swing) since she is 3 and doesn't need that stuff any more. Food was great.  Family was great.  And we were all stuffed.

Sayal helped us with Colin and play with him all the time.  She always wanted to know where he was, if she could help us, or if he needed his pacifier.  She was a big help!

All the pictures are here.

Colin, Grammy, and Grandpa

Colin is very lucky because his Grammy and Grandpa bought him a swing, which he loves.  Sometimes he falls asleep in it, sometimes he just hangs out in it and looks cute.

Colin sleeping

Colin spends most of his time sleeping.  The other things he does are less photogenic. He sleeps in his crib, his pack-n-play, in weird positions on mine and Bhavesh's laps...he just sleeps all sorts of places. And sometimes he looks uncomfortable but he just keeps on sleeping.

Sixth Day Naming Ceremony (Chathi)

Colin's Sixth Day Naming Ceremony was Monday night.  Mummi made tons of food and Colin did not get to enjoy any of it.  Dina came from New Jersey and Julie participated via skype.  Colin was given 5 names beginning with K (the astrological letter for October 19): Krishna, Keshav, Kayden, Krishant, Kevin, and then finally Colin.  The pictures are here and if you would like there is a 15 minute video  available by request (if you really want it).

The Baby's Room

The baby's room is mostly finished except for a few things we still need to hang on the walls and the curtains, which I have not finished yet.  Oh, and the baby.  The room started out a few months ago pretty boring. It had almost nothing in it and it was painted bright bright blue.

Now it has 3 yellow walls and 1 green wall complete with bright animal decorations, a bright baby quilt, jungle and circus themed wall decals, a futon, book shelves, and not just 1 giant stuffed animal, but 2!  There is a giant bear and a Giants Baby Giraffe.  (This is of course in reference to Giants rookie Brandon Belt, aka The Baby Giraffe.)

I spent a lot of time in the past few months sewing. I made our baby a quilt with sharks, dinosaurs, and ladybugs. I made a bunch of pillows for the futon with cute little animals on them.  I made 3 animals for the pack-n-play mobile, and I am making curtains. The curtains are not done yet.

But overall the room is bright and cheery and perfect.  Check out all the pictures here.

Baby Shower #2!

Last weekend we had a baby shower and it was wonderful!  Mom came in from California, Justin and Tiffany hosted us all at their house (although I am pretty sure Charlotte the 3 year old really did the hosting), and friends came from all over. (See the pictures here.)  There was delicious food, games, and we got lots of baby goodies (sheets, changing pad, diapers, all sorts of stuff), which is great.  The baby will be here so soon.
I am 35 1/2 weeks here.

Crib...Finally!

Last week Bhavesh and I finally got the baby's crib.  This was the 3rd crib we had gotten and 3rd time seemed to be the charm.  A few months ago we went to Babies R Us and picked out a crib we liked.  We had problems agreeing on a style but we figured that did not matter, because we found one.  Unfortunately, that brand ships terribly...like in a bunch of pieces with no padding.  So, that was not ideal.

After 2 broken cribs we decided to pick out a new brand.  But we had problems agreeing on crib style.  After hours of looking online, we finally found one that we both liked, it shipped, it arrived in proper packaging with no problems, and Bhavesh put it together.
We are really happy with how it looks and it seems sturdy.  Now we just need some crib sheets...oh and a baby.  But in the meantime, the bear is pretty comfortable.

So much food

In preparation for the baby shower there was a lot of food preparation.  Here is just an idea of what went on: (fried zucchini balls, black pepper poori, mango lassi, and khamen)

Baby Shower in a Sari (Now there are photos)

Yesterday was my baby shower and tons of people came from out of town to spend the day at our house, including Mom and Julie, Sunil, and Sohan, who all came from CA.  Lots of people from Chicago as well.  It was great!  The ceremony involved a wheat exchange between me and Julie.  Then we spent all afternoon in the backyard under a tent eating and playing baby shower games.  It was great.  (Baby Shower Photos and BBQ Photos)

Ultrasound Pictures

A few weeks ago I had my big 20 week ultrasound.  The baby is a fidget-monster and tossed and turned the whole time they were doing the ultrasound.  But everything looks fine.

Gardening

I haven't done much gardening this year.  Bhavesh has done tons of gardening, landscaping, and the usual lawn mowing. It all started in May when he ordered a supply of compost and built a raised garden bed.  Hopefully there are more garden beds like this in our backyard's future.

Then he planted tons of perennials on the left side of the garden: roses, lilacs, butterfly bushes, and more.  This picture is from 4th of July after things had grown a bit.
The garden has been growing well. We have had tons of squash, green beans, and green onions. Soon we will soon have some cantaloupes, eggplants, tomatoes, and peppers.  Check out all the Garden Pictures
